What's new in Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build 10549

Improvements to Cortana: Cortana now works for Insiders in Japan and in English for Insiders in Australia and Canada. For more information on new languages in Cortana.

Messaging app improvements: The Messaging app now has a text box that can be expanded as you enter text. Previously, the text box had 2-3 lines which made it really hard to see what you were typing.

Diverse emoji: With this build, we are adding support for Unicode’s diversity emoji’s. Consistent with Unicode’s vision, we’re excited to offer people all over the world with emoji that reflect more human diversity. Activate Windows 10 Using Windows 7 & Windows 8 Key[CLEAN INSTALL]

When Microsoft made Windows 10 a free upgrade for users running Windows 7 or 8.1, one of the biggest gripes users had with the upgrade process was that clean installs were not possible. Due to the way activations worked, users had to use the upgrade prompt in Windows 7, retaining their current files and applications, when moving to Windows 10. The only way of getting a clean install previously was to then reset the PC after the upgrade.

Microsoft has now made changes to the way activations work and made it much easier to install Windows 10 using the Windows 7 or 8.1 keys you already possess:

We have received a lot of feedback from Insiders on making it easier to activate Windows 10 on devices that take advantage of the free upgrade offer to genuine Windows by using existing Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 product keys. If you install this build of the Windows 10 Insider Preview on a PC and it doesn't automatically activate, you can enter the product key from Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 used to activate the prior Windows version on the same device to activate Windows 10 by going to Settings > Update & security > Activation and selecting Change Product Key. If you do a clean install of Windows 10 by booting off the media, you can also enter the product key from prior Windows versions on qualifying devices during setup.

Previously, the only way for Microsoft's servers to know you had a valid Windows 10 machine was if you upgraded from Windows 7 or 8.1 so that the company could link your hardware configuration with your Windows 10 activation. It seems that Microsoft may have now automated that process by making the hardware configuration associated with your Windows 7 or 8.1 machine readily available to the Windows 10 servers. This will allow users to skip the upgrade process and directly perform a clean install using the Windows 7 or 8.1 keys.

Apple iMac

After unveiling its latest iPhones and overhauled Apple TV box last month, Apple has today announced its new iMac family - and the company is focusing on high-resolution displays in a big way with its latest releases.

As you'd expect, Apple has upgraded other key specs of its latest desktop too. The 27-inch iMac gets the latest sixth-generation 'Skylake' Intel Core processors, along with AMD graphics. However, the 21.5-inch models are available only with an older fifth-gen processor and Intel Iris Pro Graphics.For the first time, the 21.5-inch iMac gets an optional Retina 4K Display with 4096x2304px resolution. And in another first, all 27-inch models will now include Retina 5K Display as standard - the company says that this panel is "the world's highest-resolution all-in-one display with a stunning 14.7 million pixels."

All iMacs now get two Thunderbolt 2 ports, along with three-stream 802.11ac Wi-Fi, while expanded Fusion Drive options are now available at a lower price, in a new 1TB hard drive + 24GB 'fast flash' configuration.

The new iMacs are available today - the 27-inch models start at $1799, while the 21.5-inch models are priced from $1099, or $1499 with a Retina 4K Display.

Pepsi to release new smartphones in China

PepsiCo Inc., the company behind the popular soft drink has recently confirmed its collaboration with a licensing partner regarding plans to release a line of smartphones in China in the near future.

According to a company spokeswoman in an email interview with Reuters, the effort is similar to other recently licensed Pepsi products, like apparel and accessories. Also, there are reportedly no plans to permanently get into the mobile phone business.

One rumored phone, as mentioned in a leak on a Weibo page is said to be named the 'Pepsi P1'. It reportedly has a 5.5-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) screen, 1.7 GHz MT6592 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage. It also sports a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfie moments. Lastly, it packs 3000 mAh of battery, and will run Android 5.1 Lollipop. It will supposedly cost CNY 1299 (roughly $205).

The Pepsi P1 seems to have a metallic finishing for its case, including capacitive buttons, a fingerprint sensor and an emblazoned Pepsi logo, both of which are located on the rear end of the handset, .

Aside from the phone, Pepsi accessories were also confirmed but specifics were not disclosed by Pepsi's spokesperson. If the leak is correct, the device's details will be revealed as early as next week, October 20.
